CUSTOMERS SECURITY AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
UPCOMING CHANGES AND HOW THEY IMPACT YOU

Required Regulatory Changes

In 2006, our regulatory oversight body released guidance in conjunction with other oversight agencies, entitled: FFIEC, "Authentication in an Internet Banking Environment". This guidance requires a financial institution, if it provides internet banking services, to enhance its security procedures.

Briefly, the "Authentication" guidance requires the First National Bank of Barnesville to evaluate the risk of Internet Banking as a service and strengthen the login requirements we use to ensure that the appropriate customer is granted access to their, and only their, accounts.  The primary component of the guidance refers to "Dual Authentication" as a minimum enhancement.  Dual Authentication requires a login name plus two additional pieces of information before a customer is granted access to their information. The First National Bank of Barnesville required only a login name and one other item: your password, as did all other banks, before this guidance was issued.

The First National Bank of Barnesville has partnered with Q2 Software Inc. to provide a security solution that naturally integrates with our current Internet Banking services. Additionally, the Q2Factor solution will allow us to enhance Tele-banking and ACH security with one product.

How This Will Impact You:

The Q2 Factor solution allows the First National Bank of Barnesville to meet the Dual Authentication requirements in a manner that provides the best of both worlds: enhanced customer security and little customer impact.  We have implemented the "Browser Registration" method for MultiFactor compliance. This method requires each user to authenticate the browser on the PC they use to log into online banking via an encrypted token in the form of a "Cookie". Once authenticated the browser may be registered allowing subsequent logins thru "User ID and Password" only allowing for security while maintaining convenience. (click here for full instructions)

Please take this opportunity to update your contact information within online banking to ensure correct delivery of your Temporary Access Code (TAC) necessary to authenticate you. The TAC is delivered via email or phone. While logged in just choose from the tool bar drop down "Preferences" then click on "Users" and fill in your current email address and phone number.

First National Bank of Barnesville is committed to meeting the FFIEC requirements, but also meeting the needs and demands of our customers.
